Dua Lipa Dressed Like a Literal English Rose in a Red Floral Dress at the Critics Choice Awards

After making a bold sartorial statement at last weekend’s Golden Globes, Dua Lipa continued her award season fashion run at tonight’s Critics Choice Awards. Lipa is up for Best Song for Barbie’s “Dance the Night.” Barbie itself has 18 nominations at the ceremony, including for Best Acting Ensemble and Best Picture. Lipa played Mermaid Barbie in the film, making her part of that nominated group.

On the red carpet, Lipa leaned into a literal English rose aesthetic, wearing a red Prada column dress with floral detailing. She wore her red hair half up, half down. Lipa accessorized with Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany& Co. earrings.

Lipa’s outing tonight comes after the singer sparked dating rumors with actor Callum Turner. A source claimed to Page Six that Turner and Lipa are a couple. “It’s new, but they’re mad about each other,” that source alleged.

In December, Lipa spoke to Vanity Fair about the success of Barbie. “The thing is, Greta [Gerwig, the film’s director] just really defied all odds,” she said. “Nobody knew what to expect from the Barbie film and for it to be able to hit so many chords, from it being so fun and happy and funny, to then really hitting the heartstrings and touching on something really emotional and having you, especially as a woman, contemplate your place and what’s expected of you.”

She also reflected on the process of writing “Dance the Night” and what it taught her. “Because writing for film isn’t something that I’ve done before, that was when I realized the power of possibly being able to write lyrics like a score,” she said. “I can basically narrate a story, and narrate what’s happening in the scene, to really merge the two worlds together, the music and the movie. [The song] can be its own stand-alone thing, but also when together it’s 100 percent tailored for that very moment in the film.”
