Why Zendaya Isn’t With Tom Holland at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards
Zendaya and Tom Holland are still dating, but they chose not to make their red carpet debut as a couple tonight at the Critics Choice Awards. Holland attended the ceremony on his own, wearing a brown Prada suit.
This is not surprising for Zendaya and Holland, as they have been supportive from afar of each other’s work but haven’t even appeared on a red carpet event together that wasn’t for a project they were both in. Holland is nominated tonight for Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television for his role in The Crowded Room.
Holland’s appearance comes after he told a paparazzi photographer that he and Zendaya are “absolutely not” broken up on Friday. The rumor was sparked by Zendaya unfollowing Holland and everyone else she was following on Instagram at the beginning of the year. Some fans theorized she made the move to promote Challengers, as other celebrities have done similar social media publicity stunts.
Zendaya and Holland were seen together on New Year’s Eve. They were both in Los Angeles this week, photographed in different places on Wednesday.
Zendaya told ELLE in September that the fan support of her and Holland dating doesn’t necessarily make it easier to cope with the attention on their private life together. “Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public,” she said. “I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love. But also, I do have control over what I choose to share. It’s about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist. You can’t hide. That’s not fun, either. I am navigating it more than ever now.”
