The Story Behind Zendaya’s Gold Band She Wears Everywhere

THE RUNDOWN

  • Zendaya has been wearing a gold band on her left ring finger during her public appearances this year, sometimes paired with her engagement ring.
  • The band has led fans to speculate about her and Tom Holland’s marital status, but Zendaya recently told ELLE that she won’t confirm rumors.
  • Jewelers shared details about the gold ring and how the minimalist piece could influence jewelry trends.

Earlier this year, Zendaya started wearing a gold band on her left ring finger, sometimes with her east-west diamond engagement ring and other times on its own or with other cocktail rings at events.

At the Spider-Man: Brand New Day photo-call in Madrid on June 15, the actress sported it once again as she posed alongside her partner, Tom Holland, whose own fingers were bare.

While the ring has sparked questions about the couple’s marital status, Zendaya told ELLE in her Summer 2026 cover story interview that she won’t confirm marriage rumors. “No, I’m not going to do that,” she said. “They’re [the internet is] always searching for something.”

Still, the ring has become a signature piece for her and stacks in an unconventional way with her engagement ring.

As Steph Mazuera, who founded her own namesake brand that creates made-to-order engagement rings, explains to ELLE, “Zendaya has opted to stack the rings with a small gap between them. There’s something very classic and endearing about that choice [as most many people opt to have their rings stack flush]. It feels less engineered and more personal, like two independent objects that may not be perfect but still belong together.”

It is also a minimalist piece that has presence on its own. As Logan Hollowell, founder and CEO of Logan Hollowell Jewelry, puts it, “The band appears incredibly restrained, which suggests confidence in the overall design story.”

Below, more jewelers speak to ELLE about the details behind the gold ring that Zendaya wears everywhere.

Zendaya’s band appears to be yellow gold, with multiple jewelers speculating it’s 18K.

The actress’s ring is a very timeless yellow gold—and likely a higher karat count. Multiple jewelers, including Mazuera, Hera Fine Jewelry founder and CEO Lauren Boc, and Brilliant Earth’s senior vice president of merchandising Annie Chen, tell ELLE that the ring appears to be 18K gold.

Hollowell explains why the metal pairs so well with other rings. “Yellow gold has warmth to it, and symbolically it often feels more intimate and enduring than something brighter or more overt,” she says. “Against an engagement ring that already carries a lot of design identity [in Zendaya’s case], a classic gold band can read as the emotional anchor in the stack.”

Chen calls out the metal’s “rich, warm tone and timeless appeal. With a band this classic, the value lies in the symbolism and the simplicity.”

Jewelers estimate the band is between 1.5 and 3 mm in width.

Jewelers generally put Zendaya’s ring in the 2-to-3-mm range for width. Angie Kennedy, vice president of product merchandising at Zales, has the lowest estimate, placing it at 1.5 to 2.5 mm.

Chen and Boc, meanwhile, believe it is 2.5 to 3 mm, with Chen calling it a classic comfort-fit band.

Boc adds, “This width is understated but still has presence on her hand, and it matches the vintage feel of her engagement ring.”

Alexandra Samit, founder and CEO of Alexandra Beth Fine Jewelry, estimates it is a 2.5-mm half-round band.

The Clear Cut’s founder and CEO Olivia Landau notes the band, which she believes is between 2 and 2.5 mm, “is distinctively thicker than her engagement ring, which provides a lovely contrast.”

Mazuera, for her part, estimates it is around 3 mm, explaining, “The proportions feel very balanced. It has enough presence to stand on its own while still feeling understated and timeless.”

The ring has a wide-ranging estimated value, from $1,500 to $10,000.

Jewelers explain it’s tough to estimate the ring’s value just from photos. The construction of it matters a great deal.

“A band like that could range widely depending on maker, weight, and whether it is custom, but visually, I would estimate its value at several thousand dollars, depending on craftsmanship,” Hollowell says. “What makes it meaningful is not excess, it is clarity.”

Mazuera offers a wide range of $2,000 to $10,000, explaining the price depends “on the maker, the specific gold alloy, and the fabrication method used to produce the band. Even though the design is minimal, craftsmanship plays a significant role in the final cost. Hand-finished bands from fine jewelers often carry a higher price because of the level of precision and finishing involved.”

Landau and Samit believe the ring is around $1,500. Boc says if her company, Hera, were to make the ring, it would be “$1,175 for a 3mm width in 18K yellow gold.”

Eddie Le Vian, CEO and designer of Le Vian, tells ELLE that the gold weight matters, too: “Depending on whether it is 14K or 18K and the weight of the gold, it could be estimated in the range of approximately $2,000 to $5,000 at today’s market price.”

The gold band doesn’t stack flush with Zendaya’s engagement ring, but the gap could be trendsetting.

Mazuera explains that Zendaya’s engagement ring wasn’t really designed to stack flush with other rings.

“It is less about whether a diamond is set east-west and more about the architecture of the engagement ring itself,” she says. “The height and structure of the setting determine whether a band can sit flush. In Zendaya’s case, the design of the ring naturally creates a small gap when the two are stacked.”

Landau adds that gap could be influential to the bridal industry (even if Zendaya hasn’t confirmed this is her wedding band), saying she believes Zendaya “will start a trend with brides being more open to embracing space in their bridal stacks.”

Zendaya chose a minimalist piece that works well for the kind of red carpet dressing she does.

Zendaya has worn the gold ring on her left ring finger throughout her 2026 press tours with both her engagement ring and other large statement sparklers. It’s a versatile band, Mazuera says, and one that stands out with or without other jewelry.

“What I like most about the band is that it is minimal enough to be worn on its own,” she says. “Zendaya’s engagement ring is sizable, so having a simple gold band allows her to wear something meaningful every day even when she chooses not to wear the engagement ring.”

“It also blends naturally with her other jewelry,” she adds. “We know Zendaya likes to method dress for her roles, when she wears other pieces on a red carpet or at an event, [the band] feels like an extension of her personal style she can still keep, rather than a separate accessory.”

Kennedy describes it as having a quiet luxury look. “The simplicity feels intentional,” she says. “This type of unadorned gold band emphasizes clean lines and timelessness, letting the engagement ring remain the focal point when worn together. The effect is quiet luxury, minimal but incredibly elegant, which aligns closely with Zendaya’s fashion aesthetic.”

Hollowell agrees, saying that it doesn’t compete with her other rings. Especially when she wears her engagement ring with it, “that choice gives the entire stack a very modern sense of confidence, because it feels intentional rather than overly styled. From what we can see, the overall effect feels refined, intentional, and very personal.”
