‘If we were wrong, we must first apologise to NPP’ – Mustapha Gbande on National Cathedral

Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande has urged the government and the NDC to properly investigate the National Cathedral project before considering any reconstruction.

Gbande said the NDC had accused the previous government of corruption over the project and must now ensure that the matter is fully investigated.

“We told the people of Ghana that it was impossible for $58m to be spent on digging a hole. We have a duty to ensure a clean investigation into the National Cathedral matter and individuals held responsible as a government,” he said in a post shared on social media.

He argued that the investigation was more important than reconstruction or setting up committees, insisting that the NDC must protect its credibility.

“If we were wrong, we must first collectively apologise to the NPP and the previous government,” Gbande said.

He also warned against what he described as politics without principles, saying the NDC should not compromise its position on the project.

“The agenda must die just as it started. We must up the game a little in upholding principles. Politics without boundaries, limits and principles is a dangerous arena,” he added.
