Joe Jonas’ Ex Taylor Swift Took His Ex-Wife Sophie Turner Out for Dinner in NYC

Taylor Swift gave a silent response to the misogynistic Sophie Turner-Joe Jonas divorce coverage last night by throwing her support behind Turner—and literally linking arms with her.

The singer, who dated Jonas herself briefly in 2008, was photographed out with Turner in New York City. The two single women got dinner at Via Carota with friends, both dressed fabulously and holding onto each other. Swift wore a red Reformation dress with an EB Denim trench coat and Reformation boots. (Swift stepped out in a corset dress from the brand for a MTV VMAs after-party last week.) Turner, meanwhile, wore a gray halter crop top with matching pants.

According to Daily Mail, they had a late night and were out until 2 A.M. Of course, given their history with Jonas, it’s easy to imagine how much they had to discuss during it.

This is Turner’s first photographed outing since the divorce filing, outside of her appearances on the set of Joan, her upcoming ITVX series.

Turner is a Swiftie, actually. While married to Jonas, she made her admiration known of Swift’s Fearless vault song about her Joe Jonas breakup, “Mr. Perfectly Fine,” when it was released in April 2021. That day, Turner posted a screenshot of herself listening to the track on her Instagram Story and wrote, “it’s not NOT a bop.”

In Turner’s last Instagram post this year before news of her and Jonas’ breakup came out, she shared a photo of herself wearing friendship bracelets to a Jonas Brothers concert. One said “Mr. Perfectly Fine.”

Friendship bracelets are a big part of Swift’s Eras tour, so Turner wearing them to a Jonas Brothers show served as a nice nod to Swift.

Swift’s remarks about Jonas dumping her on the phone as a teen are, of course, infamous. Back in November 2008, when asked about her Jonas breakup, an 18-year-old Swift told Ellen DeGeneres, “We haven’t talked since [the breakup], actually. So it’s like, yeah, but you know what? Someday I’m going to find someone really, really great who’s right for me.” She added later, “Oh, it’s okay. It’s all right. I’m cool. You know what? It’s like when I find that person, that is right for me and he’ll be wonderful, and when I look at that person, I’m not even going to be able to remember the boy who broke up with me over the phone in 25 seconds when I was 18.”

Eleven years later, Swift expressed regret for putting Jonas “on blast” then. “We laugh about it now,” she said in 2019. “That was mouthy, yeah, teenage stuff there.”

As for Jonas and Turner, Jonas filed for divorce from Turner on September 5. Amid sources from Jonas’ side trying to paint Turner in an unflattering light when discussing the breakup (The View’s hosts even called out those sources’ sexism), the couple released a joint statement.

“After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” they said. “There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
