The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne Gets a Chic Refresh
Just off the southeastern tip of Florida, The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami has long been a favorite escape for both travelers and locals looking to slow down by the sea. In fact, one of my earliest childhood memories is tossing fresh rose petals down a sandy aisle at my cousin’s wedding there. So I was particularly excited to hear about the recent $100 million renovation on the property, marking its first major refresh in nearly 25 years. The resort officially reopened on December 8 with a lighter, more modern aesthetic that maintains its classic, relaxed island atmosphere. The redesign introduces open-air spaces, full ocean views, and interiors inspired by the colors and textures of the surrounding sea and sand. Below, three reasons the newly reopened resort is worth a visit.
An island escape minutes from the city
While downtown Miami is just a 20-minute drive down the Rickenbacker Causeway, Key Biscayne feels like a world apart. Known for its quiet beaches, bike paths, and nature preserves, the island offers an easy retreat from the city where guests can spend the day exploring or unwinding. The newly redesigned rooms make it easy to focus on relaxation, with floor-to-ceiling windows and private terraces that frame views of the ocean, gardens, or Biscayne Bay.
A culinary destination
Dining is a key part of the resort’s transformation, with a collection of new restaurants and lounges that celebrate flavors from across the globe. Italian-inspired dishes include handmade pastas, grilled seafood, and seasonal ingredients at Luma, while Paralia draws from the flavors of the Aegean coast with shareable meze, earthy salads, and freshly caught Florida seafood. Casual options are easy to find—from wood-fired pizzas by the pool to breezy beachfront cocktails. There’s even a roaming gelato cart for a sweet treat.
Wellness and seaside adventure
At The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami, wellness is woven throughout the experience. The expansive spa spans roughly 30,000 square feet, offering treatments from classic massages to sound therapy and guided meditation designed to help guests fully unwind. Beyond the spa, wellness continues across the property: yoga and fitness classes take place on the lawn overlooking the ocean, and the Cliff Drysdale Tennis Center offers tennis, pickleball, and padel courts. Of course, the Atlantic Ocean is right outside the door—perfect for paddleboarding, swimming, or simply spending the afternoon in the water.
