Isabelle Huppert, Penélope Cruz, and More Step Out for Rolex at TIFF
Rolex wants to see the future of film. The brand played a large role at the Toronto Film Festival (TIFF) and hosted the TIFF Tribute Awards, a ceremony that honored Penélope Cruz, Helen Mirren, Rosalind Eleazar, and Seth Rogen, among others.
The Tribute Awards were held at the Fairmont Royal York, and many of the biggest names at TIFF were there. Penélope Cruz, whose films Bunker and La Bola Negra both appear at the festival, received the TIFF Special Tribute Award, while Chris Rock was on hand to give a Tribute Performer Award to Eleazar, who stars in his film Misty Green, which had its world premiere the night before. Cruz thanked Bunker director Florian Zeller, La Bola Negra directors Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, as well as Olivia Wilde, who directed her in The Invite, and her longtime collaborator Pedro Almodóvar. Mirren, who plays author Patricia Highsmith in the TIFF movie A Talent for Murder, was given the Share Her Journey Groundbreaker Award and gave a touching speech that paid honor to both Dolly Parton and Gloria Steinem.
Huppert, who was at the festival for the French comedy All About Corinne, wore a Balenciaga gown with gloves to accept a Performer award. She attended the Sony Classics annual TIFF dinner along with Cruz and Javier Bardem a night earlier.
Other winners at the Fairmont Royal York included Siân Heder, director of Being Heumann, Seth Rogen, who joked about receiving a lifetime achievement award at only 44, and Possible Love director Lee Chang-dong.
