Who Are All the Celebrity Zodiac Signs in This Is Me…Now: A Love Story?

Jennifer Lopez’s imagination knows no bounds. Her new musical film, This Is Me…Now: A Love Story, is brimming with fantastical, over-the-top visuals, including a wedding montage, a sweaty dance sequence in a “heart factory,” and giant hummingbirds flying above her on a tropical island. True Leo behavior!

But the astrological connections don’t end there. Mentions of zodiac signs and horoscopes abound throughout the film. Lopez even wore a zodiac-inspired gown by Zuhair Murad couture to the premiere earlier this week.

Most importantly, there’s an entire “Zodiacal Council,” consisting of celebrity guest stars portraying signs of the zodiac, and acting like a Greek chorus throughout the movie as they comment on (and try to influence) Lopez’s love life from above. For example, there’s Jane Fonda as a Sagittarius goddess, Trevor Noah as a Libra god, and Jenifer Lewis as Gemini twins.

In the press notes for the film, Lopez explains this group of characters:

“I decided early on that this story was going to include a zodiac council, like a Greek chorus. This represents all the people who comment on your personal life. You have your girlfriends who are talking about you. You have your coworkers, your family, all of that. With me, you add the media on top of that. I always had a Greek chorus commenting on my life, so I said, we need to show this hopeless romantic that there are always people watching. And Dave [Meyers, the director] came up with the idea to do it in this surrealistic way where we have all the zodiac signs, because the main character of the story believes in signs.”

And when it came to casting, Lopez said, “I love all those people, but I wanted people who have a certain philosophy about love and life that resonates with me, people that I feel would understand what I’m trying to do here. Everybody was picked and curated for that reason.”

Ahead, we tracked down the cast of the council and their real-life zodiac signs, listed in the order of the astrological calendar.

Aries: Jay Shetty

Actual sign: Virgo (September 6)

The author, podcast host, and life coach is a fitting Aries, minus the rage. He drops some inspirational tidbits for Lopez, like, “She needs some stability after all that emotional whiplash.” Spoken like he was on a TED Talk.

Taurus: Neil deGrasse Tyson

Actual sign: Libra (October 5)

J.Lo (probably) said that if we’re going to be talking about stars, we’re bringing in a professional. Enter astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson. Though, he seems to be playing himself, rather than the ideal Taurus, as he says things like, “Humans are self-sufficient, their technology has rendered us obsolete,” and, “We must respect the ebb and flow of the universe.”

Gemini: Jenifer Lewis

Actual sign: Aquarius (January 25)

The screen legend pulls double duty as twin Geminis on the council, although she is a different air sign, an Aquarius, in reality. She encourages onscreen J.Lo to discover life’s lessons on her own, saying, “Let her get out there and explore. She’ll learn.”

Cancer: Sofía Vergara

Actual sign: Cancer (July 10)

It’s a match! Vergara puts a funny spin on the feelings-focused water sign. “I think I can see my father’s house from here!” she says, looking down from the council, which is set in…checks notes…outer space.

Leo: Post Malone

Actual sign: Cancer (July 4)

The singer had a big responsibility representing the sign of both Lopez and her husband, Ben Affleck, even though he’s a Cancer IRL. Interestingly, he plays the sign like a thirsty frat bro with lines like, “You know what? You would look hot in bangs,” and, “You like Leos? How do you feel about younger men?” This is who J.Lo is supposed to take love advice from?

Virgo: Kim Petras

Actual sign: Virgo (August 27)

Another match! The pop singer’s lines are limited to short and sweet exclamations, like “Same!” and “Goodbye, Pisces,” and “Stunning!” (But if you want to hear more from Kim Petras, stream her new EP, Slut Pop Miami, which just dropped this week.)

Libra: Trevor Noah

Actual sign: Pisces (February 20)

The former Daily Show host brings his talk show delivery to his role as the Libra. “She runs right through them like she’s a man-eater, but that’s not what’s happening. That’s not who she is,” he says in one scene.

Scorpio: Keke Palmer

Actual sign: Virgo (August 26)

Palmer, a known astrology fan, is a Virgo through and through, but she didn’t seem to mind playing a different sign. She even shared her gratitude to J.Lo on Instagram, writing, “I loved being a part of this vision, thank you @jlo ♥️ You continue to inspire me with your dynamic career.” Palmer brings her natural charisma and humor to the role, including an impeccable Maya Angelou impression.

Sagittarius: Jane Fonda

Actual sign: Sagittarius (December 21)

Yet another match! Fonda does more than make a cameo, though; she’s championed J.Lo and Affleck’s love story behind the scenes too. “I want you to know that I don’t entirely know why, but I feel invested in you and Ben, and I really want this to work,” Fonda reportedly told her Monster-in-Law co-star. Her Sagittarius character is similarly invested in Lopez. “She’s smart, she’s beautiful, she seems so strong. Why does she always need to be with somebody?” she says at one point.

Capricorn and Aquarius: Not shown

Apologies to those with December 22 to February 18 birthdays, but J.Lo did not include these two signs in her council. What does she have against these signs??

Pisces: Sadhguru

Actual sign: Virgo (September 3)

Sadhguru is a yogi, mystic, and founder of the Isha Foundation, who is beloved by celebrities and the internet. Now he can add actor to his resume as well. He offers his wisdom onscreen in the form of Pisces: “The stars can speak their minds, but what is in the deepest recesses of your heart…” Post Malone finishes the sentence, adding: “Is ultimately what will manifest itself.” Sadhguru also serves as an officiant in one of the film’s many wedding scenes.
