Which Taylor Swift Songs Made the Eras Tour Movie Cut?

After a summer of Swifties flooding Taylor Swift’s smash-hit Eras Tour, musing what the concert might look like “If This Was A Movie,” it shouldn’t surprise anyone that the pop princess had an answer ready to roll out all along. As of Thursday, October 12, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film is making its theater rounds, showcasing roughly 2 hours and 45 minutes of Swift’s 3-hour-and-15-minute record-breaking concert.

Due to the half hour wiped from the original setlist, a few key Eras Tour moments are missing from the movie. Costume changes, prolonged crowd cheering, and other time stalls are understandably shortened or erased from the final cut, but Swifties will notice a few songs have also disappeared from the footage captured during Swift’s performances at Los Angeles’ So-Fi Stadium in early August.

Five songs in total were cut from Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour: Swift’s 1989 single “Wildest Dreams”; her performance of “No Body, No Crime” with opening act Haim; Speak Now’s “Long Live”; Lover’s “The Archer”; and the beloved Folklore hit “Cardigan.” The two of Swift’s now-legendary surprise songs featured in the film are “Our Song” and “You’re On Your Own, Kid.”

Why the cuts? It isn’t because theatergoers aren’t willing to sit still for three hours. As Oppenheimer, Avatar: The Way of Water, and the soon-to-be-released Killers of the Flower Moon suggest, runtimes are only getting longer, with 3-hour-plus films (and no intermissions!) no longer a rarity. But it’s possible that, in the case of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, the additional footage was deemed unnecessary (as in the case of costume changes), repetitive, or even subpar (though, knowing Swift’s exacting standards for herself, that seems doubtful). There’s also the chance that Swift is hanging onto the “Cardigan” or “The Archer” footage for rainy-day bonus material. You know the girl loves a surprise drop!

In the meantime, there’s still plenty to see on the big screen, and Swift’s hardly making herself scarce elsewhere. These days, you can watch the pop star in cinemas, on her globe-spanning tour, and—increasingly—at NFL games where a certain tight end happens to make an appearance. Just don’t forget your ticket(s) at the door.
