Edo Police To Investigate Woman’s Claim Husband Died By Suicide – Nigerian Observer
BENIN CITY- Edo State Police Command said it has commenced investigation into a case of suspected suicide reported by a woman in Benin City.
This occurred barely 24 hours before a Benin-based accountant allegedly murdered his pregnant wife, then hanged her lifeless body with a rope tied to a ceiling fan to prove that she committed suicide in Benin City, last Saturday.
The police exclusively told our reporter that one Mrs Rita Emenere reported that her husband Mr Esene Eric Oyakhilomhen, 40, was seen lying on the bed with foam in his mouth, as he was rushed to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
The ugly incident was said to have occurred about 8:25pm at 13, UU drive, Ugbor, GRA, Benin City on July 15, 2022.
The Public Relations Officer for Edo State Police Command SP Chidi Nwabuzor disclosed this to our reporter in Benin City.
He said the woman reported that her husband one Mr Esene Eric Oyakhilomhen may have died after ingesting a bottle of beer mixed with a lethal chemical substance (Sniper) found beside his bed which he laid before he was rushed to the hospital.
“On the 16th July, 2022 at about 0024hrs (12:24am), one Mrs Rita Emenere of number 13, UU Drive, Ugbor, reported at Ugbor divisional police headquarters, GRA, Benin City, that about 20:25hrs (8:25pm) of 15th July, 2022, her husband one Mr Esene Eric Oyakhilomhen, aged 40 years, of the same address was seen lying on the bed with foam in his mouth and was taken to a hospital where he was confirmed dead.
“…the complainant said an empty Trophy beer can and Sniper plastic were found close to the deceased person in the room. Meanwhile, the corpse has been deposited in a hospital mortuary for preservation, autopsy and further investigation to ascertain whether it was a suicide or murder”. SP Nwabuzor said.
It will be recalled that one Mr Emmanuel Umoru, 45 was reportedly accused of killing his pregnant wife, Cynthia Agho, 27 mother of his two children and hanged her corpse to proof that she committed suicide in her bedroom in Benin City, last Saturday night.
Late Cynthia Agho and her husband now in police custody had unresolved quarrel over his extramarital affair before her death, last Saturday, July 16, 2022.
