2027: Ekiti PDP, Accord, ADP, others back Tinubu — Oluyede

ADO-EKITI — The 2026 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Dr Wole Oluyede, has confirmed the formation of a political alliance involving the PDP, Accord, Action Democratic Party (ADP), Young Progressive Party (YPP), Action Alliance (AA) and other political groups to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Oluyede disclosed this in Ado-Ekiti at the inaugural meeting of the Oluyede Progressive Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda (OPARHA).

He urged his supporters and political associates to put aside the outcome of the 2026 Ekiti governorship election and unite behind Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid.

Oluyede said the alliance was being formed in the interest of the country and not for financial gains, stressing that members were committed to supporting what they considered the progress and development of Nigeria.

He said his decision to support Tinubu followed a recent communication from the Presidency, during which the President appealed to him to put the disagreements arising from the Ekiti governorship election behind him and work with his administration.

According to him, Tinubu assured him that political differences surrounding the election should not prevent them from working together.

Oluyede said the President did not ask him to leave the PDP but appealed to him to support his administration and pledged to support him after securing his re-election.

He consequently urged his supporters to put aside their grievances over the 2026 Ekiti governorship election and focus on the 2027 presidential election.

The former PDP candidate also declared an end to his political differences with Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, saying he was prepared to work with him in support of Tinubu’s re-election.

“After the election, I went to Abuja with anger because I was humiliated during the Ekiti election.

President Bola Tinubu sent a message to me that he would call me. Nine days ago, I received a call from the Presidency,” he said.

Oluyede said Tinubu had urged him not to remain angry over the outcome of the election, adding that the President acknowledged the political differences that arose during the contest.

He recalled his longstanding support for Tinubu, saying he was among those who founded the South-West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA) movement.

Oluyede said the President’s appeal for his support demonstrated the importance attached to his political network.

“President Bola Tinubu didn’t ask me to depart PDP. He told me, ‘Let’s work together for my re-election bid and I’ll settle you after my re-election,’” he said.

He urged his supporters to focus on Tinubu’s re-election bid, saying the disagreements arising from the Ekiti election should no longer define their political relationship.

“The war is over. I and Governor Biodun Oyebanji will work together for President Bola Tinubu’s election. I am no more fighting with Oyebanji. God has given him his victory,” Oluyede said.

He added that his interactions with Oyebanji should be viewed within the context of his support for Tinubu’s re-election.

“If you see me in his house, I’m not there for myself but for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid. But the next election in Ekiti, PDP is coming back in 2030,” he said.

Oluyede further confirmed that the alliance was being expanded to include ADP, YPP, Accord, AA and other political groups.

“We are forming alliances with ADP, YPP, Accord, Action Alliance and others for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid. They are not working for the monetary aspects but for the progress of the country,” he said.
