On Thursday, King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted a Christmas party in London at Clarence House. Pictures from the festive event showed a framed black-and-white photo taken at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding in 2018.
The picture shows the king walking Meghan down the aisle during the ceremony at St. George’s Chapel. Another framed family portrait on the table was taken at Prince Louis’s christening, showing Meghan, Harry, Kate Middleton, Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte.
Harry and Meghan moved to California in 2020, moving away from the royal family and stepping down as working members. There has seen been some distance between Harry and his father since. In June, a source told People that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have different perspectives on how to move forward with repairing the rift.
“They’re aware of everything going on in England, but they’re being left out of the details—there’s clearly no trust,” said the insider, who added that Meghan is “focused on the future” and “is very business about it.”
She is supportive of Harry’s feelings as he navigates his family issues, though she “wishes her husband could feel less burdened by the past and more present in the life they’ve built together.”
Throughout the past year, Charles was receiving treatment for cancer. The source shared, “It’s been difficult for him to even get proper updates about his dad.”
There have also been issues with visiting. Harry has been asking for his entire family to receive automatic police protection when in the country. But they lost their appeal on the issue in April 2025.
