Togbe Sesinu VI of Hoe appeals for support to complete community projects
The Paramount Chief of Hoe in the Ho Municipality, Togbega Sesinu VI, has appealed to the Ho Municipal Assembly and the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Stephen Adom, to support the community to complete its most prioritized projects.
Togbe Sesinu made the appeal during the maiden edition of “MCE’s Time with Chiefs and Queen Mothers” held in the Ho Municipality.
According to him, the first priority of the community is to provide accommodation for nurses and teachers to improve service delivery and retain staff posted to the area.
“The first project is accommodation for our nurses. We have a CHPS compound which was built through self-help, but we still lack accommodation for the nurses and the teachers in the town. That is a project I have taken up as my first initiative for the community. We intend to put up an 8-unit apartment building for both the teachers and the nurses,” he said.
He also appealed to the Assembly to speed up works on the telecommunication project to improve network connectivity in the area, which he described as a major challenge affecting daily life and economic activities.
“The other major challenge is the network problem. We don’t have stable network coverage. In some areas you can hardly make a call, and downloading is very difficult. You can’t download at all in some places,” Togbe lamented.
On water, the chief said the community water system is almost outdated, weak and overstretched due to population growth, and although the community is undertaking maintenance on its own, it needs external support to complete renovation and expansion works.
“As it stands now, we cannot do the expansion as we want because we need to renovate first before the extension can take place,” he explained.
He noted that people from surrounding communities troop to Hoe daily, but few reside there due to lack of decent accommodation, hence the plan to build chamber-and-hall self-contained apartments to house workers and residents.
Togbe Sesinu disclosed that all necessary plans are in place and the sod-cutting for the accommodation project will be done during the his coronation durbar on September 26, and appealed to the MCE to assist the community to make it a reality.
