Koforidua: Newborn buried alive in cocoa farm at at Akoroso


A 47-year-old woman, Akua Abrokwaa, has been arrested for allegedly burying her newborn grandchild alive on a cocoa farm at Akoroso near Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
The incident is reported to have occurred on Sunday shortly after the woman’s daughter gave birth.
According to the Assemblyman for the area, Kofi Quainoo Stephenas, the matter was initially reported to the chief of the community, who subsequently summoned the woman.
He said Akua Abrokwaa allegedly refused to respond to the chief’s summons, prompting the matter to be reported to the police.
Akua Abrokwaa and her daughter have since been taken into police custody at Oda to assist with investigations into the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged act remain under investigation.
