AKURE — Youth stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, across the six South-West states are set to converge for a leadership and engagement programme aimed at strengthening youth participation in governance and mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The programme, tagged “APC South-West Youth Leadership and Engagement Programme,” is being spearheaded by the South-West Zonal Youth Leader of the party, Adesuyi Daramola.
The gathering will bring together youth leaders, political stakeholders and other key actors from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states.
According to the organisers, the programme will provide a platform for discussions on youth development, political participation and the role of young people in advancing the administration’s development agenda.
Daramola said the meeting would also provide an opportunity for the youths to formally endorse Tinubu for a second term, while unveiling a structured programme aimed at empowering, engaging and positioning young people for greater participation in the political process.
The initiative is anchored on the theme: “Strengthening Youth Leadership for Progressive Governance and National Development.”
Speaking on the objectives, Daramola said the programme went beyond political mobilisation, stressing that it was focused on building stronger youth leadership structures, improving coordination among APC youth groups in the zone and equipping young people with the capacity to contribute meaningfully to governance.
“This gathering is about more than endorsements. It is about preparing South-West youths to take their rightful place in leadership and governance.
“We want to create a platform where young people can engage constructively on issues affecting them and the nation at large,” he said.
The organisers said the programme would feature panel discussions, capacity-building sessions and strategy meetings aimed at deepening engagement among APC youths across the region.
They added that the meeting was expected to reinforce the growing role of youths in the political structure of the South-West and provide a unified platform for young APC stakeholders to articulate their aspirations and support for the party’s leadership.
The APC South-West leadership is expected to be represented at the event as party leaders seek to consolidate youth support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
