Nicole Kidman Is Both Actress and Muse in Troye Sivan’s ‘She’s the Best’ Music Video

Nicole Kidman has added a stylish music video appearance to her legendary résumé. The Practical Magic 2 star appeared in Troye Sivan’s latest video, “She’s the Best,” on Friday, August 14, serving as the object of the pop star’s admiration.

The video opens with Sivan gazing out of a café window, watching Kidman—looking like the Hollywood icon that she is, dressed in all black and smoking a cigarette—before she slinks into the dressing room of a drag bar. By the time Kidman makes her way to the dance floor, she finds Sivan crooning at her from center stage.

“That girl, that girl, wow, that girl/She’s the best, best,” he sings, making direct eye contact with Kidman from across the room. The actress, equally engaged, takes a sip of her drink and offers Sivan a sly smile.

Kidman’s appearance marks her third time appearing in a music video. Her last video appearance was in 2001 for her and Robbie Williams’s collaboration “Somethin’ Stupid.” Her music video debut took place in 1983 for Pat Wilson’s “Bop Girl.”

Sivan and Kidman’s bond dates back to 2018—the pair met each other on the set of Boy Erased, a drama that follows a young boy as his Baptist parents force him into conversion therapy. The pop star told Rolling Stone that he wanted Kidman for the “She’s the Best” music video because “she’s always just been such a picture of the divine feminine to me.”

“I sent her the song and I showed her some references for the video,” he added, explaining that Nicole called him from an unknown number while in a Zoom meeting. “I let it go to voicemail, and then I see the transcription starts coming, it’s like, ‘Hi darling Troye, it’s Nic.’ I slammed my laptop shut and just ended the meeting.”

The end result, which shows off Kidman’s sultry, club-going side, isn’t too dissimilar from how she chooses to spend her time. The actress recently went viral for detailing her club routine in a recent British Vogue interview.

“Dinner at 10:30 P.M., club at 1 A.M. I’ll put on glasses. Sometimes I’ll wear a wig to hide, a little dark wig, and then I can just dance,” she told the outlet. “As long as I’m surrounded by people, like, I take people with me, then I’m fine. I need it.”
