Alina Cho Hosted a Dinner for Brandon Maxwell at Genesis House

What does Alina Cho wear to dinner on a Tuesday night? If she’s gathering some of fashion’s biggest names to celebrate Brandon Maxwell, she’s wearing one of his designs, of course. The look in question is a coral dress with a knit capelet from the designer’s spring/summer 2024 collection, which the Emmy-winning journalist first spotted on America Ferrera earlier this year. “When I asked Brandon, ‘Do you think this is too much for dinner?’ He said, ‘Actually, I think it’s perfect.’ I thought to myself, This is a man after my own heart.” And with that, the evening kicked off with a dinner at Genesis House, located in New York City’s Meatpacking District.

“Brandon, I believe, makes clothes that are memorable, desirable, and ultimately wearable; clothes that you want to wear again and again—I think that’s his secret sauce…in addition to that, [he] is a wonderful person.” Cho shared with the table. With guests including Maye Musk, Christopher John Rogers, Linda Fargo, June Ambrose, and more, there’s no doubt others share her sentiment regarding Maxwell’s near-decade of work in fashion. And to the designer, she said, “I love that southern Texas charm that you bring to everything. In an industry that can be cutthroat and tough, you are the same person today that I met all those years ago, and for that, I am thankful.”
