President John Dramani Mahama has commended the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his enduring contribution to Ghana’s peace, unity, and development, stating that his reign has strengthened the nation.

Describing the Asantehene as a statesman whose influence extends beyond Asanteman, the President said his leadership has had a far-reaching impact on national cohesion and progress.

The remarks were delivered on his behalf by Deputy Chief of Staff Nana Oye Bampoe Addo at the World Meets in Ghana Executive Dinner Ball.

President Mahama noted that Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has not only preserved the rich heritage of the Ashanti Kingdom but has also elevated it in ways that benefit the entire country.

He highlighted the Asantehene’s role in resolving major national disputes, pointing to the Dagbon chieftaincy crisis as a defining moment. According to him, the Asantehene’s mediation efforts led to the enskinment of a new Ya Naa in January 2019, bringing an end to years of conflict and instability.
