In February 2026, Emily Ratajkowski went Instagram official with French director Romain Gavras. This isn’t Gavras’s first public relationship, though. He dated Dua Lipa in 2023, with the pair first sparking dating rumors that March when they were photographed holding hands while leaving the Saint Laurent show during Paris Fashion Week.
They went red carpet official at the Cannes Film Festival that May and ultimately ended their relationship in December 2023. (Lipa is now engaged to Callum Turner.)

Who is Romain Gavras?
Forty-four-year-old Gavras was born in Paris, and the Onassis Foundation states that he’s the son of Greek-French film director Costa-Gavras, so directing runs in the family. His most recent big works include Sacrifice (2025) and Netflix’s Athena (2022), but he is also known for directing several popular music videos, including the video for M.I.A.’s “Bad Girls,” winner of a 2012 MTV Video Music Award. In 2017, he was nominated for Best Music Video for Jamie XX’s “Gosh (Version 2)” at the award show again. He was additionally nominated for a Grammy Award in 2013, for directing Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Frank Ocean’s “No Church in the Wild.”
Gavras has headed a number of ad campaigns, too, including Louis Vuitton’s “Coeur Battant,” Dior’s “J’adore: The New Absolu,” and Powerade’s “The Corner,” per his IMDb page.

While they were dating, yes. Lipa celebrated Gavras’s 42nd birthday on July 4, 2023, with an Instagram tribute. “joyeux anniversaireeeee bébé ????,” she wrote in French. Her message translates to: “happy birthday baby.” The post has since been taken down.

In December 2023, breakup reports first came out.
Neither Gavras nor Lipa have commented on the alleged breakup. In January 2024, Lipa spoke about being single to Rolling Stone. “Dating, I think overall, is just a little confusing,” she said. “It’s either through friends of friends or people you trust where you can meet new people, because [dating] is not really so straightforward when you are, I guess, a public person.”
