Will Lioness Get a Season 3?

Our ears are still ringing from this weekend’s season 2 finale of Lioness. As we struggle to find our bearings again, we wonder how the Taylor Sheridan series will do the same, should Paramount+ decide to renew the show for a third season. What started as a series exploring the lives of women in the CIA—whose perilous, high-stakes missions demand constant reckoning with their moral convictions—has unraveled into a sprawling labyrinth that tackles child trafficking rings, cartel dealings, and a looming global conflict with China and its plan to invade Taiwan. The cadence of Sheridan’s writing has moved so fast this season that we’re practically panting to keep up. But that’s not to confirm nor deny whether there’s another season on the way. Read on for everything we know about a potential season 3 so far.

Was Lioness renewed for season 3?

The fact is, we don’t know yet. What we do know is that if viewership is any indication of the affirmative, things are looking good. Lioness shattered records once again for its October 27 season 2 premiere, reaching 3 million households in the first seven days, according to The TheWrap. And Sheridan is known to be behind some of Paramount’s most popular shows: Yellowstone, Landman, Tulsa King, and soon, The Madison.

Zoe Saldaña told Vanity Fair in November that she “signed up for three seasons at least,” which also hints that a third season might be underway. Details are yet to be confirmed.

When will Lioness season 3 come out?

Without a confirmed renewal, Lioness does not have a targeted release date yet. Considering the 11-month wait between the premiere of season 1 and the announcement of the show’s renewal at the time, the news may not be confirmed until just several months before the next season drops.

What will Lioness season 3 be about?

By the final moments of season 2, Joe (Zoe Saldaña) and her team have unfathomably escaped death after a nail-biting action sequence, targeting the Chinese nuclear scientists in Turkey. While it’s become nearly impossible to say what direction the mission will take once the dust settles, we hope to see some other types of battles pan out in a potential season 3.

Plus, other lingering questions: Is Joe’s marriage headed for divorce? And will Cruz (Laysla De Oliveira) and Josephina (Genesis Rodriguez) have to continue to hide their developing feelings for one another? And lastly, will Joe finally take a back seat from the Lioness mission next season, allowing for the axis of the show to pivot to Cruz? Or will the ever-powerful riptide of Joe’s work duties keep her equally as involved in the action as she has been since the beginning?

Team Lioness walks away from this season having survived the physical battle fields, by impossible odds. Can they survive the emotional ones, too?

This story will be updated.
