Dua Lipa Is the New Global Makeup Ambassador for YSL Beauty

Marinated makeup. Blueberry-milk nails. Spider lashes. These three beauty trends all have one thing in common: Dua Lipa. The singer, songwriter, and actress helped propel them into the mainstream beauty stratosphere—and got them all over our TikTok feeds. “The marinated makeup look is my every day; I love that. Spider lashes is a good ‘night out’ kind of lash—I love doing my bottom lashes, I can’t not have my bottom lashes painted. I love exploring different nail colors, and the blue felt quite nostalgic—it was from when I did a campaign, and the color just went with the designs,” she tells ELLE.com. Now, the Grammy award-winner is bringing her trendsetting ways to YSL Beauty and going from campaign star to makeup ambassador.

Since 2019, Dua Lipa has been the face of the YSL Libre franchise as their global brand ambassador. As the newly appointed Global Makeup Ambassador for YSL Beauty, she’s partnering with the brand to push the culture forward through beauty. “This feels like a very natural progression in our relationship,” Lipa states Dua. “I’ve been with the brand for five years now. I’ve grown up with the brand.” As their newest makeup ambassador, Lipa will help promote YSL Loveshine, a new hero franchise focusing solely on the lips. It includes Candy Glaze, a high-shine lipstick franchise; the highly anticipated YSL Loveshine Lip Oil Stick; and additional products that have yet to be announced. “Dua Lipa brings an electrifying energy to our brand, inspiring women to not just wear makeup, but to make a statement about who they are and what they stand for. Her influence is a celebration of individuality, a statement of empowerment, encouraging everyone to embrace their unique beauty with confidence,” Stephan Bezy, international general manager of YSL Beauty, said via press release.

The YSL Loveshine franchise debuts with the new Lip Oil Stick. The lip oils come in many creamy, high-shine, nude shades that everyone can wear. The campaign was shot in Morocco near YSL Beauty Ourika Community Gardens, where the Maison ethically sources ingredients for many of their beauty products. Morocco holds a special place in the heart of the brand, as Yves Saint Laurent found inspiration and joy in this vibrant country.

While she might be leading a glossy makeup revolution and informing a new generation of makeup lovers, Lipa admits that her mother has been the most influential to her beauty journey. “I’ve always looked through her makeup bag first, before anyone else’s,” Lipa says with a smile. “That was my first introduction to makeup and the way she carried herself. I’ve always looked up to her in terms of style and makeup. She’s my beauty icon.”

For Lipa, her style and beauty come from her life experiences. For example, she was in the studio when she decided to dye her hair red. “I was working on my new record, and I just felt like red was really describing the sound—that’s just what I saw. I was like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna dye my hair red and just see what happens.’ I love experimenting,” she shares.

If you want to experiment with a couture glossy look, you don’t have to wait for the new YSL lip oils to drop. You can check out Candy Glaze Lip Gloss Stick, which combines hyaluronic acid, Vitamin E, and mango oil for hydration, shine, and nourishment. The new Loveshine Lip Oil Stick launches online on March 15 and will be available in stores by the end of March. Let’s get glossy!
