All the Times Beyoncé and Lady Gaga Might Have Hinted at a ‘Telephone’ Sequel

It’s been 14 years since the iconic music video for “Telephone” by Lady Gaga and Beyoncé came out, and after Super Bowl LVIII, fans believe it might be time for the highly anticipated sequel. In case you need a refresher, the video ends with “To be continued…” written across the screen. So why, nearly a decade and a half later, did rumors of a part two spark? Ahead, all the hints Gaga and Beyoncé might have possibly dropped about a “Telephone” sequel.

Super Bowl LVIII

Gaga and Beyoncé both attended the Super Bowl in Las Vegas to watch the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the San Francisco 49ers, which might not seem like a big deal considering this year’s game was a star-studded event. But given the next clue, it makes a lot more sense.

The “Telephone” music video starts off with Gaga getting booked into “prison for b#?/7&es” on February 11, 2010. Super Bowl LVIII also happened to take place on February 11.

Beyoncé’s Act II announcement video

Also on Super Bowl Sunday, Beyoncé posted a video to share the news of her next album with the world. In the video, she is driving a retro taxi cab through the desert, similar to the one in the “Telephone” music video, where Beyoncé bails Gaga out of jail and picks her up in her “Pussy Wagon,” complete with flame decals and fuzzy dice hanging from the rearview mirror. They share a honeybun before taking off into the desert. Beyoncé loves a good Easter egg, so fans don’t take anything as coincidence.

Beyoncé’s new song “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM”

*Also* on February 11, Beyoncé dropped two new songs following her Act II announcement, and one of them is called “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM.” Fans were quick to note the similarities between that and Gaga’s hit track “Poker Face. Not only do both songs have a card game theme, but also the first line that Gaga sings in her song is “I wanna hold ‘em like they do in Texas, please.”

Gaga’s Super Bowl Instagram Post

While watching the big game, Gaga snapped a photo of the field, flashing a peace-sign in front of the camera. But fans read into it a little deeper, suggesting the possibility that Gaga was holding up two fingers to tease “Telephone” part two.

Gaga also wore a number “16” 49ers jersey, which the internet theorized could be in support of the second song that Beyoncé released, called “16 CARRIAGES.”

Beyoncé’s Verizon Super Bowl commercial

Starring in a phone ad seemed a little out of character for Beyoncé, so fans looked for deeper meaning behind it, and actually came out with some pretty solid evidence. Virgin Mobile, another popular service provider, was featured in the “Telephone” music video a few times, so the commercial could be another tease at a sequel.
