Taylor Swift’s Publicist Shuts Down ‘Fabricated Lies’ About Secret Joe Alwyn Marriage
Taylor Swift’s publicist Tree Paine made a rare move on Tuesday when she publicly called out Deuxmoi, an unverified celebrity gossip outlet, for posting “fabricated lies” about her client.
Paine wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, about Deuxmoi’s recent post claiming, as the account has repeatedly in the past, that Swift and her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn secretly got married in a non-legal ceremony during their six-year relationship. Paine said point-blank that this did not happen, pointing out those posts cause “pain and trauma.”
“Enough is enough with these fabricated lies about Taylor from Deuxmoi,” the publicist wrote. “There was NEVER a marriage or ceremony of ANY kind. This is an insane thing to post. It’s time for you to be held accountable for the pain and trauma you cause with posts like these.”
Deuxmoi responded to Paine’s X post by doubling down on its claims: “Well I make zero dollars from lying … can publicists say the same? Also to relate something that is in reference to something that happened years ago to ‘pain and trauma’ after what just happened seems like a poor choice of words. Either way, I apologize to Taylor.”
A handful of Deuxmoi’s Instagram Stories on Thursday were user submissions about Swift and Alwyn’s relationship, following Swift releasing “You’re Losing Me” on streaming. The breakup song, written in December 2021, has renewed public interest in Swift’s relationship with Alwyn, whom she was dating when she wrote and released it.
Outlets reported Swift and Alwyn broke up in March 2023. While they were frequent subjects of engagement rumors, the couple never confirmed them, with Alwyn outright telling The Wall Street Journal, “If I had a pound for every time I think I’ve been told I’ve been engaged, then I’d have a lot of pound coins. I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn’t say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn’t say.”
At the time of Swift and Alwyn’s breakup, a source told People, “They’ve had rough patches before and always worked things out, so friends thought they would take some time apart but eventually come back together.” The source added that they realized “ultimately, [they] weren’t the right fit for one another.”
Multiple sources told People then that they had been “talking about marriage as recently as a few months ago.”
Swift is now dating Travis Kelce.
