Everything We Know About Season 2 of ‘The Boys’ Spinoff ‘Gen V’

Only three weeks after Gen V premiered, the show was renewed for another season. The series is based on the popular Amazon Prime show The Boys, and there is already some character crossover. But the new characters and their world clearly stand strong on their own.

This show focuses on what it means to be a supe and at a boarding school, territory that has been covered fairly well in many other entertainment franchises. However, The Boys and Gen V have a particular tone that involves a lot of irreverent humor and extreme violence that is quite unique to the genre. Here’s everything we know about Gen V season two so far.

Was Gen V renewed for a season two?

Only a few weeks after season one premiered, Prime Video announced it would be renewing for season two.

“We are so proud that our top-ranked freshman is getting a second season!” said president of Sony Pictures Television Studios, Katherine Pope, Variety reports. “Thank you to the amazing producers, cast, and crew, for bringing Gen V to life, and our Prime Video teammates, for the incredible support and partnership. We’re thrilled we can all continue on this insane journey together in season two!”

What will season two of Gen V be about?

Showrunner Michele Fazekas and executive producer Eric Kripke said in a statement, “We couldn’t be happier to make a second season of Gen V. The writers are already working on the new season—sophomore year is gonna be wild, with all the twists, heart, satire, and exploding genitalia you’ve come to expect from the show.”

So, that’s a hint. Plot details may also depend on the upcoming events of The Boys in season four. Because it’s a spinoff, there’s still quite a bit of influence on the new show and the creator’s interest in broadening the world.

But season one of Gen V revealed that Godolkin University is not intended as a place to train supes, but to manipulate them for Vought. Some of the student body wants to expose the truth and others want to take things into their own super-powered hands. In the finale, Cate and Sam free prisoners from the Woods labs, leading to a violent face-off. Marie, Jordan, Emma, and Andrew try to head them off, but then Homelander pops by. The massacre that ensues ends up being placed on the students in the media.

Season two will likely deal with the repercussions of their new reputation and continue to build bridges between Gen V and The Boys. Butcher makes a brief appearance at The Woods, which may mean the students are going to pair up with his crew next year.

Who is cast in season two of Gen V?

Everyone living at the end of the first season (RIP Shetty) is likely returning for the second season: Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau, Chance Perdomo as Andre Anderson, Lizze Broadway as Emma Meyer, Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap, London Thor and Derek Luh as Jordan Li, and Asa Germann as Samuel “Sam” Riordan.

When is season 2 of Gen V premiering?

With the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike following the end of a long strike for the WGA, production for a lot of favorite TV shows have been slowed. The release will most likely not be until 2025 or potentially late 2024.

Is there a trailer or photos for season two of Gen V?
