Selena Gomez Wore Two Minidresses and One Glitzy Gown at Her Rare Impact Fund Gala

Selena Gomez hosted her first Rare Impact Fund benefit last night, and the singer leaned into extravagant dressing. The star wore three dresses throughout the night, starting with a custom Valentino silver floor-length gown on the red carpet with Messika dangle earrings.

Gomez switched into minidresses for the rest of the night. Next, she wore a purple floral one by Rahul Mishra on the red carpet.

Inside the gala, she switched into a floral Monse minidress with a zebra print when speaking on stage.

Her friend and kidney donor Francia Raisa wore a matching silver gown with her on the red carpet. Raisa told Extra the two hadn’t coordinated outfits on purpose: “The only thing we coordinated was our spray tans, [which we got together],” she said. “We didn’t talk about our dress.”

She also addressed their friendship following past feud rumors, saying, “We trauma bonded [when we first met as teens over exes], which is beautiful, but also it can get rocky and tricky. People grow, relationships change, obviously I treat her like my little sister she treats me like her older sister. I don’t know any relationship that’s perfect. When our situation came up—no, I never pictured that, but obviously I never regretted it. I am happy that we are here today celebrating and supporting each other.”

Of their evolution, she said, “I am a different person today than I was last year or even when I turned 30, I’m 35 now, even when Selena turned 30, I’m like, ‘It’s different isn’t it?’ and she was like, ‘Yeah.’ I said, ‘Welcome to your 30s, now we can get to know each other again.”

Gomez spoke to People at the event about feeling more at ease in her 30s. “Now that I’m 30, I care less, so it’s actually nice,” she said. “I get to focus on the things that actually matter, and I’m not worried about things that were holding me back.”

Regarding the benefit, Gomez said, “It is my first time throwing something and I hate asking people for money, so I don’t know. It’s like a weird concept, but I know that we’re doing a good thing and I couldn’t be more lucky to have the platform to do that.”

Gomez and the Rare Beauty team launched the brand with the goal of raising $100 million for the fund over the course of 10 years to help increase access to mental health resources for young people.
