Kate Middleton Wears Flower Crown With White Dress, Skipping Formal Tiara, For King Charles’ Coronation

Kate Middleton arrived for King Charles’ coronation ceremony this afternoon in London, outfitted like a true princess. The Princess of Wales opted to wear white Alexander McQueen dress with a silver flower crown in lieu of a more formal tiara along with her cloak. Her look matched her daughter Princess Charlotte’s, with their dresses by the same designer.

Kate was joined by her two younger children Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis along with her husband. Her oldest son Prince George is a Page of Honour in the ceremony, making it a slightly different day for him than his siblings.

Earlier this week, Kate reflected on her own coronation day feelings compared to her children’s. Mandy Leifheit of Seattle, Washington, spoke with People about her conversation with Kate during the princess’s visit to Dog & Duck Pub in London’s Soho. “I asked if the kids were excited about the coronation, and she said, ‘They’re very excited. They had their rehearsal yesterday [Wednesday] so they knew what they’d expect.’”

“She said she’s more nervous than the kids are since it’s such a big event for the kids to be part of. She said Louis will be there and that he’ll remember it,” Leifheit added. She had generally glowing things to say about Kate and the impression she took away from their conversation: “It was a dream. She’s amazing. She’s so real and so natural—and this would be overwhelming but it’s not and she’s here.”

For context, Louis just turned five, while Charlotte is newly eight, and George is nine, soon to be 10.
