Kate Middleton Dresses Up in Polka Dots for the Royal Ascot

After playing with color in a head-to-toe baby pink suit, the Duchess of Cambridge channeled classic royal style for an appearance with Prince William at the Royal Ascot today. Members of the royal family usually attend the annual horse racing event, entering by carriage ride and adhering to the formal dress code, hats and all.

Duchess Kate looked elegant in a white and black polka dot dress by Alessandra Rich, paired with a wide-brim hat adorned with white flowers. She even accessorized with suede brown pumps and a matching clutch. As for jewelry, she wore pearl and diamond earrings that were once Princess Diana’s, per Town & Country.

Kate Middleton seems to be a fan of Alessandra Rich and the designer’s dotted designs. At Prince Philip’s memorial service earlier this year, she wore a similar ensemble, this time in a black and white number featuring a belt, subtle leg slit, and button embellishments on the shoulder. She completed that look with a wide-brim hat and pumps as well.

She’s even worn a navy version with a white collar and big white buttons running down the front. Royal fans might recall she wore this dress in Prince Charles’ 70th birthday portraits too. (With little Prince Louis smiling in her arms!)

Today’s Royal Ascot outing is the latest of a number of appearances Duchess Kate has made in recent weeks. Some of them were tied to the queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, such as a Service of Thanksgiving, a celebratory pageant, and Trooping the Colour, which other royal family members, including Meghan Markle, also attended.
