Rotary Club donates musical equipment sanitary items to Lagos schools

The Rotary Club of Lagos, Festac Cosmopolitan, has donated two sets of drums and various sanitary items to two primary schools in Festac Town, Lagos State.

The beneficiaries are Ideal Nursery and Primary School and New Town Nursery and Primary School, both located along 3rd Avenue.

The donation, made under the Club’s 2026/2027 Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Project, included waste bins, brooms, buckets, mop sticks, hand brushes, towels, toilet brushes, gloves, air fresheners and toilet cleaners, among other items.

Presenting the items, the Club President, Nnaemeka Mekah, said the drums were provided after the Club discovered that the schools lacked the equipment for their morning assemblies.

He said the sanitary materials were intended to promote cleanliness and encourage pupils to develop good hygiene habits.

Mekah noted that the Club had supported both schools in the past by equipping their libraries and donating books.

“We have equipped your library and brought books in previous years. During our last visit, your teachers told us you had no drums. We wondered how you coped without them, so we decided to provide one set for each school.

“We also want the pupils to keep their environment clean and imbibe the habit of cleanliness,” he said.

The Head Teacher of New Town Nursery and Primary School, Mrs Salami Debora, thanked the Club for responding to the school’s request.

Similarly, the Head Teacher of Ideal Nursery and Primary School, Agbelemo Babatunde, commended the Club for its continued support, saying the drums would encourage pupils’ participation in extracurricular activities.

A Primary Five pupil of Ideal Nursery and Primary School, Onwuebusi Kosisochukwu, also thanked the Rotarians on behalf of her schoolmates.

Helen Obhahie, who spoke for New Town Nursery and Primary School, appreciated the Club for the drums, sanitary items and previous interventions, while praying for its members’ continued success.

The highlight of the presentation was a demonstration of the pupils’ drumming skills, which delighted the school management and members of the Club.
