Queen Elizabeth II and Meghan and Harry’s Daughter Lilibet Have Officially Met

Queen Elizabeth II and her great-granddaughter Lilibet “Lili” have officially met, Entertainment Tonight reports. A source told the outlet that Lili and the Queen had their first meeting on Thursday after Trooping the Colour. Lili’s big brother and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s oldest son Archie, 3, was also there to see the Queen again.

Lili’s parents Meghan and Harry attended the Queen’s birthday parade but were not part of the carriage procession or on the balcony to watch the flypast with the Queen. Instead, they watched the parade from the Major General’s Office with other royal family members. Meghan and Harry appeared in the window, visible to photographers. The Duchess of Sussex was shot wearing an elegant off-the-shoulder navy dress with a Stephen Jones wide-brimmed hat.

This morning, Meghan and Harry attended the national Service of Thanksgiving with the royal family. They will celebrate Lili’s first birthday tomorrow. Entertainment Tonight reports that the Queen is expected to see Lili again then to celebrate that milestone. It’s unclear whether a photograph of Lili and the Queen’s meeting will be released. Meghan and Harry have made a point to protect their children’s privacy and keep them out of the photographer’s lens.

When Lili’s birth was announced last year, the couple explained through their Archewell organization why they named her Lili. “Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales,” the organization wrote.

The couple, in a statement, detailed their first impressions of Lili: “On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”
