Hon. Victor Edoror, Edo State House of Assembly Speaker

BENIN CITY – Members of the Edo State House of Assembly yesterday called on relevant federal and state governments’ agencies to urgently repair the bad spots on Agbor-Uromi highway.
The call was sequel to a motion by Mr Justin Okonoboh, representing Igueben constituency, who drew the attention of the house to the poor state of the road, saying it had caused many accidents and increased robbery cases in the area.
Okonoboh said the situation of the road had become a serious threat to lives and property of   inhabitants  in Igueben and Ebelle communities.
He explained that the road was a major link between the South-South and South-East and Northern parts of the country, adding that it was a trade route for cattle, yams and tomatoes.
The motion was unanimously adopted by members and it was resolved that agencies charged with building and maintenance of roads should be directed to urgently fix the road.
In his remarks, Speaker of the house, Mr Victor Edoror, said urgent steps must be taken by the government to rehabilitate the road and others in poor state around the state.
Edoror also called on the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) and security personnel to check the gridlock and robbery operations often experienced on the Uromi-Agbor road.
He directed that a copy of the resolution should be sent to all relevant agencies that had capabilities to repair the road.
