Cape Coast Teaching Hospital midwife installed Paramount Queen Mother of Gomoa Ajumako

A staff midwife at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Madam Josephine Efua Baawa Arthur, has been installed as the Paramount Queen Mother (Omanhenmaa) of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council, with the stool name Nana Efua Oponse Krampah I.

The installation was held last Tuesday at Gomoa Ajumako in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region, where Nana Efua Oponse Krampah I also swore the oath of allegiance to the Omanhene of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, and the Nananom.

The Omanhene charged the newly installed Paramount Queen Mother to use her office to promote peace, stability and unity throughout the traditional area.

Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, who is President of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council and immediate past President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, urged Nana Efua Oponse Krampah I to work closely with the Paramountcy and Nananom to strengthen cooperation and advance development.

He said the Traditional Council had raised the profile of the chieftaincy institution in Gomoa, the Central Region and Ghana, and encouraged the Paramount Queen Mother to draw on her professional experience in the health sector and other areas to improve the welfare of the people.

Congratulating Nana Efua Oponse Krampah I on her elevation, the Omanhene urged her to adopt an open-door leadership style and ensure that all stakeholders were brought on board.

“I encourage you to seek the welfare of women in our communities, especially girls, to attain height in the educational sector by seeing you as their role model.

“Let Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council be exceptional among the Women’s Wing of the Chieftaincy Institution in the Central Region and Ghana,” Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI noted.

In her acceptance speech, Nana Efua Oponse Krampah I thanked the Omanhene, Nananom of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council and her Twidan Royal Family for the confidence and honour bestowed on her.

She pledged to collaborate with the Traditional Council to fulfil its traditional responsibilities and promote the cultural values of the people.

She said she would draw on her experience in the health sector to support initiatives aimed at improving public health and sanitation. Nana Efua Oponse Krampah I added that she would work with Queen Mothers and girl-child advocates to organise public education programmes on teenage pregnancy and its contribution to school dropouts, with the broader objective of improving education in the area.

She appealed for the collective support of stakeholders, assuring them that her office would remain open to collaboration and constructive ideas.

Meanwhile, the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council has also sworn in Okokrodurfo Nana Kwame Dadze Apaeabo, Chief of Gomoa Akwamu, as a Boundary Chief, with Nana Ewur, Kyidomhemaa of Gomoa Beseadze, serving alongside him.

The Boundary Chiefs have been tasked with helping to restore peace and harmony in communities within and beyond the traditional area, particularly through the peaceful resolution of land and boundary disputes.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, Omanhene Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI urged the newly appointed Boundary Chiefs to live up to the confidence reposed in them and work to maintain peace and stability.

He further called on traditional leaders in the affected communities to cooperate with the Boundary Chiefs to promote development.

He said the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council had established a reputation for peace and development, and urged all stakeholders to work together to preserve it.

“You have been with the Traditional Council for years and we know your capabilities; go out there to make Gomoa proud. Settle every land and boundary dispute and litigation peacefully.

“We, Nananom will give you people every support to achieve the duties assigned to you to attract more investors to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth.”

Okokrodurfo Nana Kwame Dadze Apaeabo, on his part, pledged that they would work diligently to promote peaceful coexistence and peace in the area.
