PAYOM commends Hajia Halima Mohammed for supporting Paga Community Library

The Paga Youth Movement (PAYOM) has commended renowned educationist, international businesswoman and child rights activist, Hajia Halima Sadia Mohammed, for donating books and educational materials towards the establishment of the Paga Community Library.

The donation ceremony took place on September 5, 2026, in Paga. PAYOM’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Desmond Abire, received the items on behalf of the Movement alongside other executive members.

In a statement signed by Mr Abire, the leadership of PAYOM described the donation as “an investment in knowledge, education, and the future of Paga’s youth.”

“Every book is a mind empowered, every contribution is an investment in Paga’s future,” the statement added.

The Movement said the donated materials represented an important step towards its goal of establishing a functional community library that would provide students, young people and residents with access to educational resources.

PAYOM has consequently appealed to individuals and organisations, including indigenes of the area, businesses and philanthropists, to support the project with computers, additional books, furniture and other essential resources.

Speaking on behalf of students in Paga and the wider Kasena Nankana West District, Mr Suleman Salifu Zebrim, who facilitated the donation, expressed gratitude to Hajia Halima Mohammed for her contribution to the library project.

Drawing on his experience at the Bong District Education Office, particularly in underserved communities, Mr Salifu highlighted the challenges created by inadequate learning materials.

“Lack of learning materials affects teaching and learning,” he said.

He described the donation as an investment with far-reaching benefits, stressing that the books would support literacy, education and national development.

“The books are an investment in the future of our children, an investment in literacy, and an investment in national development,” Mr Salifu stated.

He also linked the gesture to the values of community development and Islamic giving.

“Hajia’s donation is aligned with the spirit of community development and Islamic philosophy,” he noted, adding that it would “motivate, encourage, and improve reading culture and academic performance in Kasena Nankana West District.”

PAYOM has reiterated its call for further assistance to enable the project to be completed and fully equipped.

The Movement said the proposed Paga Community Library would, upon completion, serve as an important educational and resource centre for students and residents across the district.
