Estimated read time3 min read

Apple TV’s Lucky is a thrilling ride. The drama follows con artist Luciana “Lucky” Armstrong (Anya Taylor-Joy) and her husband Cary Masterson (Drew Starkey), who manage to pull off a multimillion-dollar heist in Las Vegas. Soon enough, Lucky is betrayed, and things go horribly wrong. While on the run from both the FBI and a notable crime boss, she is left to fend for herself as she tries to clear her name and get the money back.

After a full season of stealing, chasing, and revenge, everyone’s asking whether we’ll see this cast again in a second season of Lucky. Here’s everything we know so far.

Has Lucky been renewed for a season 2?

Apple TV has not confirmed whether Lucky has been renewed for another season. The hit miniseries premiered in July, with the finale airing on August 19. There are seven episodes total, and they were released weekly following the first two.

What has Anya Taylor-Joy said about Lucky returning for a season 2?

Currently, Anya Taylor-Joy has not mentioned anything about Lucky returning for a second season; however, all hope may not be lost. The show, produced by Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, is based on the book Lucky by Marissa Stapley, which was released in 2021. According to a Deadline interview with Lauren Neustadter, president of Hello Sunshine, there might be potential for a season 2 following the news that Stapley will publish a sequel book, No Such Thing as Lucky, in summer 2027.

“[Lucky the TV show was] always conceived as a limited series, so that is absolutely the way that it was made,” Neustadter said. “But when an author says, ‘I feel inspired to keep going,’ there’s truly no greater compliment and nothing more exciting for us, because we love these characters and we just want to spend more time with them.”

Showrunners Jonathan Tropper and Cassie Pappas, however, see the season 1 finale as a definitive ending. When The Hollywood Reporter asked whether they have plans for another season, Pappas responded, “We have not talked about it.” She continued, “It definitely was designed to be a limited series, and we made sure to tie up all the loose ends as best as we could to where it was satisfying.” Tropper added, “You have to really have a reason to do it. If somehow one of us came up with an amazing idea, it would be worth considering. But I think there’s something very complete about the story we told.”

Viewers will just have to wait and see what’s in store for Lucky and her story.

Who’s in the cast?

In season 1, the lead, Lucky, is played by Anya Taylor-Joy. Her husband, Cary, is played by Drew Starkey. Other notable appearances include Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, William Fichtner, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor. If the series is renewed, fans will have to wait for Apple to announce any cast updates.

Does Lucky’s ending set it up for a season 2?

Spoiler alert! The ending of Lucky does not necessarily end on a cliffhanger. It concludes with Lucky coming out on the other side of a betrayal with vengeance, hard-earned cash, and, let’s say, some newfound freedom.
