Premier League recap, reaction: Rogers fires Aston Villa to big win vs. Man United

Sunday’s big Premier League clash was a fun one, as Unai Emery’s Aston Villa defeated Ruben Amorim and Manchester United 2-1 at Villa Park.

Morgan Rogers was the hero for Villa, scoring either side of half-time as Emery & Co. won their 10th straight game in all competitions. His first, on the cusp of half time, was a brilliant solo effort as he cut in from the left and curled one into the top right corner from the edge of the area.

Matheus Cunha pulled one back for United barely three minutes later, seizing on Matty Cash‘s loss of possession and firing beyond Emi Martinez before half-time. However, Rogers was on hand in the 57th minute to pounce on a loose ball in the box and curl it home.

The win means Villa go seven points clear of fourth-place Chelsea and sit just three points behind league leaders Arsenal after 17 matches. Man United, meanwhile, slip to seventh after a weekend in which Sunderland and Liverpool picked up points.

Here’s how things played out at Villa Park.
