Gucci Cruise 2025 Was a Love Letter to London

At Gucci’s cruise 2025 show tonight, gone were the sky-high platforms and wedges of last season. Instead, they were replaced with moccasin-ballet flat hybrids and creepers—the latter a nod to London, where the Italian house presented its latest collection at the Tate Modern. “I owe a lot to this city,” De Sarno said in a press release. “It has welcomed and listened to me. The same is true for Gucci, whose founder [Guccio Gucci] was inspired by his experience there,” when he worked as a porter at the city’s grand Savoy Hotel.

With Dua Lipa, Alexa Chung, and Kate Moss seated front row, creative director Sabato de Sarno took inspiration from London’s Swinging Sixties heyday with mod rompers, wool check coats, and whimsical daisy prints. The show opened with the perfect relaxed jeans, worn with the Blondie bag and tan suede Horsebit ballet flats. Several looks followed that featured pastel chiffon pussy-bow blouses, accessorized by a single strand of pearls. It was feminine and effortlessly cool, à la British icon Jane Birkin—complete with long, undone hair, big sunglasses, and equally oversized bags.

Although Ancora red and patent leather (De Sarno’s signature color and fabrication) made a few appearances on the runway, the pastels, tan suede, denim, and crisp white billowy blouses are the vibe we will all be after this season. The use of embroidery to form geometric beaded prints, 3-D daisies, and long sequin strands on denim showcased the house’s skilled craftsmanship.

The delicately pleated, ethereal finale dresses that floated down the runway were the perfect way to close this divine cruise show—and DJ Mark Ronson had Moss & co. on the dance floor until the wee hours.
