GTA issue: Sanction whoever leaked Abeiku Santana’s letter to Tourism Minister – Nana Yaa Jantuah

Presidential Staffer and National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team member, Nana Yaa Jantuah, has called for sanctions against whoever leaked a letter by Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) Deputy Chief Executive Officer Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey over communication challenges with his boss.
She said the letter, which was addressed to the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, was an internal communication that should not have been made public without authorisation.
Mr Aggrey, popularly known as Abeiku Santana, wrote to the minister on October 22, complaining about difficulties in securing meetings with the GTA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to discuss urgent operational matters.
In the letter, he said the situation had affected his ability to obtain timely guidance, approvals and decisions on matters relating to domestic tourism, special events and marketing.
He appealed to the minister to intervene and help establish a more effective communication arrangement between the CEO and his office.
Reacting to the issue on Accra-based JoyNews’ AM Show on Monday, October 26, Nana Yaa Jantuah questioned why the letter had been leaked and called for the person responsible to be sanctioned.
“This is an internal memo, and once it’s an internal communication, whoever brought it out has to be sanctioned,” she said.
She argued that the unauthorised disclosure raised concerns about the handling of confidential information within the public service.
“What does the person seek to achieve? Because this is an internal memo,” she asked.
She maintained that the matter should have been handled internally, adding that the Minister of Tourism should intervene to help resolve the communication challenges between the two GTA officials.
Meanwhile, Abeiku Santana’s letter stated that his intention was not to make a personal complaint but to highlight a communication gap that needed to be addressed in the interest of effective management and institutional efficiency.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to working professionally with the CEO and the GTA management team to advance the ministry’s objectives and improve the authority’s performance.
