Tinubu’s Kaduna rally won’t save him in 2027 — Makinde campaign

The Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organization (MDPCO) has dismissed President Bola Tinubu’s planned 2027 campaign flag-off in Kaduna State, declaring that insecurity, economic hardship and alleged marginalisation of the North would cost him re-election.
In a statement by its Director of Strategic Communications, Richard Ihediwa, the organisation said Saturday’s rally would not erase public anger over Tinubu’s record, insisting that the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Engr. Seyi
Makinde, was poised to defeat him.
The campaign organisation challenged Tinubu to justify his administration’s record in the North, recalling his 2022 campaign promise to eliminate bandits and kidnappers troubling Kaduna and other parts of the region.
“Since President Tinubu decided to flag off his 2027 Presidential campaign in Kaduna, the political headquarters of the North, we challenge him to explain what the region has gained from his incompetent and nepotic administration beyond a bumper harvest of bloodshed, crushing economic hardship, broken promises and shattered public trust,” Ihediwa said.
The MDPCO claimed that at least 13,000 people had been killed in northern Nigeria since Tinubu assumed office in 2023, while an estimated 3.7 million had been displaced.
It also accused the administration of protecting APC campaign billboards while communities remained vulnerable to attacks, and alleged that the North had been sidelined in strategic federal appointments.
“Under Tinubu, political advertisements appear better protected than human lives,” the organisation said.
The organisation said Tinubu’s assurance that Northerners would never regret voting for him had been undermined by worsening
insecurity and economic hardship, arguing that the region deserved more than campaign promises.
It urged Nigerians to embrace Makinde’s RESET NIGERIA Agenda, expressing confidence that public discontent would translate
into an electoral setback for the APC in 2027.
