Everything We Know About The Batman: Part II

Estimated read time2 min read

Gotham City is getting more crowded.

As production ramps up on The Batman: Part II, director Matt Reeves has officially confirmed several major additions to the sequel’s cast, including Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Brian Tyree Henry, and Sebastian Koch. In May 2026, Reeves announced the actors one by one on X, using a series of GIFs.

The follow-up to Reeves’s superhero reboot will once again star Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, alongside returning cast members Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, and Jayme Lawson. While many plot details remain tightly under wraps, the growing cast offers the clearest indication yet of where Reeves may be taking Gotham next.

Here’s everything we know so far.

Who is joining the cast?

Reeves confirmed on May 14 that Johansson, Stan, Henry, Koch, and Charles Dance have all joined the sequel.

Stan is widely expected to portray Gotham district attorney Harvey Dent, though Reeves has not publicly confirmed the role. Dance is rumored to play Dent’s father, while Johansson is believed to be portraying Gilda Dent, Harvey’s wife.

Meanwhile, Henry and Koch’s roles have not yet been revealed.

The new additions join returning stars Pattinson as Batman, Wright as Jim Gordon, Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Farrell as Oz Cobb/The Penguin, Lawson as Mayor Bella Reál, and Gil Perez-Abraham as Officer Martinez.

What could the movie be about?

Reeves has shared very little about the plot, but he previously hinted that the sequel’s central villain is a character who has “never really been done in a movie before.”

What does the snowy Batmobile teaser mean?

Earlier this month, Reeves shared a behind-the-scenes image of the Batmobile driving through snow, confirming that at least part of the sequel will take place during winter.

The first film ended with Gotham partially flooded following the Riddler’s attacks, so the colder setting could reflect a city still recovering from political and physical devastation.

The image also marked one of the first signs that production was officially underway.

When does The Batman: Part II come out?

The film is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on Oct. 1, 2027.
