Atronie residents honour Alexiboam for helping to end 30-year chieftaincy dispute

The chiefs and people of Atronie in the Sunyani Municipality have expressed gratitude to businessman and Chief Executive Officer of Alexiboam Company Limited, Alexiboam, for his role in helping to resolve a chieftaincy dispute that divided the community for about 30 years.

The resolution has paved the way for peaceful installations of the chief, sub-chiefs and queenmothers and ushered the traditional area into what residents describe as a new era of peace and unity.

At a community durbar, the people honoured Alexiboam with a citation and a cow in recognition of his contribution to restoring peace, supporting community development and assisting vulnerable residents.

Commendation
The Chief of Atronie, Nana Amponsem Darko II, said the community would remain grateful for Alexiboam’s contribution to ending the protracted dispute.

He said the peace had created an environment for the traditional authorities, families and residents to work together towards the development of Atronie.

Nana Amponsem Darko II also commended Alexiboam for continuing to support the community through the reshaping of roads and access routes, assistance to widows and vulnerable people, and other development initiatives.

He said the businessman’s support demonstrated that his interest in Atronie went beyond business and reflected his commitment to giving back to the community where he was born and raised.

Motivation
Receiving the honour, Alexiboam said his support for Atronie was motivated by his deep connection to the community rather than the expectation of recognition.

He said he was born and raised in Atronie and that his father had served as the town’s Krontihene.

Alexiboam expressed gratitude to God for using him to help resolve the long-standing dispute, saying he was pleased to see the community reunited after years of division.

Recalling his humble beginnings, he said he started as a hunter before venturing into chainsaw operations and other businesses, experiences which he said taught him perseverance and the importance of remembering his roots.

He urged parents to raise their children with love and encouragement, cautioning against insults, foul language and curses, which he said could have lasting effects on children.

On the Sunyani–Atronie–Ntotroso Road project being executed by his company, Alexiboam assured residents that the project would be completed to the required quality standards.

He also pledged to reshape some access roads within the Atronie township at no cost to the community or government.
