‘We believe in engagement’ – MTN explains venue switch for ShataFest/MoMoFest

MTN MoMo has broken its silence on the sudden change of venue for this year’s MoMoFest – ShataFest from the Ho Sports Stadium to the Youth Resource Centre in Ho.

Addressing the media ahead of Shatta Wale’s press briefing at the Volta Serene Hotel, the Distribution Manager of MobileMoney Ltd, Mr. Tony Boateng, described the matter as sensitive and still under discussion.

“We align as a business. We have not just moved from the comfort of our offices into any other environment to perform an activity,” Mr. Boateng stated.

He declined to give further details on the circumstances leading to the change, explaining that discussions are still ongoing.

“It’s a very sensitive one, and as a business, we always want to agree and align on some of these responses before we come out publicly,” he said.

Mr. Boateng, however, sought to assure the public of the company’s commitment to due process and stakeholder respect.

“We believe in engagement as a business. We believe in dealing with all the regulatory bodies, the traditional council, etc. We believe in corporate stakeholder management,” he emphasized.

He therefore appealed for understanding, saying, “I will respectfully ask that we let it slide for now, and then we’ll come back with appropriate responses, if you’ll permit me.”

Meanwhile, headliner Shatta Wale has justified the move, saying the Ho Sports Stadium had become too small due to the rapid pace of ticket sales, describing the Youth Resource Centre as “the perfect place for us” and assuring fans that every security measure has been put in place for a wonderful show.
