Sunyanimanhene sworn in as member of Bono Regional House of Chiefs
The Sunyanimanhene, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, has been sworn in as a member of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs (BRHC), marking a significant milestone in his traditional leadership and service to the people of Sunyani and the Bono Region.
The colourful ceremony, steeped in tradition and cultural splendour, brought together paramount chiefs from across the region, security officials, political figures, judicial officers, members of the Council of Zongo Chiefs, the media and the general public.
The Sunyanimanhene took the Oath of Membership, the Oath of Secrecy and the Oath of Judicial Office, formally affirming his commitment to the responsibilities of the House.
The President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Nana Agyemang Badu II, the Dormaahene, led the newly inducted member in administering the Oath of Membership.
Addressing the gathering, Nana Agyemang Badu II said the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) Committee, the Standing Committee, the General House and the National House of Chiefs had certified Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II as a legitimate chief and a member of the regional House.
He urged the Sunyanimanhene to exercise independent judgment and prioritise the development of Sunyani and the Bono Region.
“Don’t let people dictate for you; do what your sound mind tells you to do for the interest and development of Sunyani and Bono,” he advised.
Nana Agyemang Badu II further charged him to lead his people with dignity, loyalty and truthfulness while contributing to the development of the region and the nation.
Her Honour Jennifer Pokua Amponsah, a Sunyani Circuit Court Judge, administered the Oath of Judicial Office and the Oath of Secrecy.
Congratulating the Sunyanimanhene, she said his appointment reflected the confidence reposed in his abilities, experience, character and commitment to service.
She stressed that the oaths were not merely ceremonial formalities but solemn commitments to uphold integrity, diligence, impartiality and accountability in the discharge of his duties.
Justice Amponsah encouraged him to promote unity, exercise sound judgment and approach challenges with wisdom, courage and professionalism.
The ceremony celebrated the rich cultural heritage and dignity of traditional leadership, bringing together traditional authorities and other stakeholders in a display of unity, pride and commitment to the development of the Bono Region.
