Swarovski’s New Collection Convinced Me to Wear More Sparkle
4 min readI’ve never been someone who saves my favorite jewelry for special occasions. If I love a piece, I want to wear it over and over again, despite how “over-the-top” it may seem. Whether worn to work, out to dinner and drinks, or just with a basic tee, the more impact the jewelry has, the better. Finding pieces that immediately catch the eye is easy, but finding ones versatile enough to earn a spot in my permanent collection is much harder.
When I got the chance to test out Swarovski’s new Classica collection, I was excited to see how the pieces worked outside of the perfectly styled campaign with pop icon Ariana Grande. Could I pile them onto my wrist for more depth, layer the earrings with ear cuffs, and wear the same pieces with a casual tee and my favorite going-out top? As it turns out, the answer to all of these questions was yes.
Designed by Swarovski global creative director Giovanna Engelbert, Classica is a 29-piece collection of earrings, rings, necklaces, and bracelets inspired by the organic shape of the calla lily. The influence clearly comes through in the curved, liquid-like silhouettes that combine smooth metal with Swarovski Zirconia. The pieces are made from recycled-source sterling silver, with 18-karat gold finishes appearing throughout the collection.
For the brand, it’s a noticeably quieter collection, described as “minimalist and timeless in spirit,” with an elegance that is “whispered rather than declared.” And after wearing the collection for a week, that contrast is what I found most interesting. While Swarovski is known for its bold shine, Classica stands out because it doesn’t require a special occasion or dressed-up outfit to make sense.
After seeing the collection, my natural instinct was to stack everything. Rather than wearing one earring, I layered two styles in each piercing and added an ear cuff, mixing the crystal-covered sides with the high-shine metal. Individually, they speak for themselves, but together, the curved silhouettes overlap and play off each other, making the look feel even more substantial. Even when worn to a casual happy hour with a graphic tee, jeans, and very little styling, the stack felt intentional rather than overdone.
I maintained the stacking mentality when it came to the three silver bracelets. The curved shapes caught the changing light in a way that made the pieces feel almost fluid, and they played off one another so beautifully that I rarely wanted to wear just one. With a simple blue dress, I didn’t need much else, as the stack did all the talking.
What really sold me on the collection was how equally easy it was to pair the pieces together as it was to wear them on their own. I could go all in with a wrist full of silver one day and then rely on a single pair of earrings the next. There was no need to commit to one metal or wear every coordinating piece at once. In fact, I loved styling the ear cuffs because they forced me to mix metals, something I typically struggle to do.
Throughout the week, I wore the gold earrings most. The subtle curved shape and touch of shine added something to every outfit I wore them with without completely taking over. They were just as easy to throw on with a T-shirt during the day as they were with something more dressed up at night, which is exactly what I want from a pair of everyday earrings. They have most certainly passed the test to earn a spot in my permanent collection.
My favorite of the collection, though, has to be the lariat necklace. Against a simple V-neck neckline, its long drop completely changed the feel of my look while still feeling delicate and intentional. The calla lily-inspired shape and gold finish added such a feminine contrast to my black top, while the elongated drop naturally became the focus. It’s the kind of necklace that you actually get excited to put on.
What I appreciated at the end of the week was how naturally these pieces had worked their way into my everyday rotation. The collection works because you can decide how much or how little you want from it. Sport a single earring or bracelet when you want something understated, add the lariat necklace to a bare neckline for a feminine touch, or stack the bracelets and rings when you need a little extra drama in your life.
Swarovski describes the pieces as being designed to feel like a “second skin” you can transition from morning to night. While this may sound like a lovely idea, it’s hard to know whether a collection is truly that universal until you actually try living in it. After wearing Classica for about a week with some of the most-worn pieces in my wardrobe, mixing metals, stacking styles, and taking them from daytime to dinner, I understand the appeal. The shine is still unmistakably Swarovski, but now it’s just a little easier to wear every day.
