Oti Police intercept truck carrying suspected narcotic parcels

The Oti Regional Police Command has intercepted an articulated truck containing 5,164 compressed parcels suspected to be narcotic drugs.

The DAF articulated truck, with registration number GE 3906-15, was intercepted on September 14, 2026, based on intelligence that it was transporting narcotic substances concealed in secret compartments.

In a statement issued on Friday, September 18, the police said a search of the concealed compartments led to the discovery of the 5,164 compressed round parcels.

Three suspects, identified as 35-year-old driver Abdul Razak Adamu, 33-year-old mechanic Jubril Amidu, and 33-year-old driver Aliu Adamu, were arrested.

A fourth occupant, identified as Adamu Iddi, however, escaped.

The three suspects were arraigned before the Dambai Circuit Court, presided over by Justice Dr Moses Bedima Duut, on September 17, 2026, and were remanded into police custody to reappear on October 15, 2026.

The police have impounded the truck, while the exhibits have been secured to assist with investigations.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the escaped suspect and identify other persons connected to the consignment.

The Oti Regional Police Command has assured the public of its continued commitment to combating narcotics trafficking and organised crime, and urged the public to provide credible information to assist the police.
