Lagos urges motorists to plan journeys as Kara bridge repairs begin

The Lagos State Government has urged motorists to plan their journeys as repair works begin on damaged expansion joints at Kara Bridge.

The repairs on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway section are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, according to the government.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.

Osiyemi said the rehabilitation was a scheduled intervention by the Federal Ministry of Works to restore the damaged expansion joints.

“The state government advises motorists traversing the corridor to plan their journeys ahead,” he said.

He explained that one half of the affected section would be closed at a time to minimise the impact on traffic.

According to him, motorists will share the remaining open half interchangeably throughout the rehabilitation period.

The commissioner appealed to motorists to exercise patience and cooperate with traffic managers deployed to the affected corridor.

He said the cooperation of motorists would help ensure the rehabilitation works were completed within the scheduled two-week period.

The state government urged motorists to consider the expected traffic implications and make appropriate arrangements before embarking on journeys through the corridor. (NAN)
