Ho Chiefs commend MCE for judicious use of assembly’s internally generated funds
Chiefs and Queen Mothers in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region have commended the Ho Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Stephen Adom, and the Municipal Assembly for what they described as the prudent use of Internally Generated Funds (IGF) to support development in the municipality.
The commendation followed a maiden engagement dubbed “MCE’s Time with Chiefs and Queen Mothers” held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, during which Hon. Adom accounted to traditional leaders for development initiatives undertaken since assuming office about a year and a half ago.
The MCE outlined a range of interventions implemented across various sectors, including education, sanitation, security, healthcare, sports, water supply and telecommunications connectivity.
He also highlighted progress in the municipality’s road network, citing ongoing works on several roads under the government’s flagship “Big Push” programme as well as feeder road projects.
Hon. Adom further disclosed that the Assembly had strengthened its revenue mobilisation efforts, enabling it to procure two new vehicles to improve service delivery and support field operations.
According to him, the new vehicles would also help address the frequent breakdown of the Assembly’s ageing vehicles, which had often affected the work of staff.
He said the Assembly was also expecting additional new vehicles, although their delivery had been delayed because the dealers had temporarily run out of stock.
The MCE noted that the latest procurement marked the first time the Assembly had been able to purchase such a vehicle since the tenure of former MCE Hon. Kodobisah.
Commending the MCE and the Assembly, the Paramount Chief of the Takla Traditional Area and President of the Takla Traditional Council, Togbe Ayim Adzokoto II, said he was impressed by the Assembly’s decision to account for how its internally generated revenue was mobilised and utilised.
He said the initiative demonstrated that development could not depend solely on the government’s Common Fund and urged the Assembly to continue providing regular accounts on its internally generated revenue.
“This shows we cannot rely solely on the Government’s Common Fund for development. We must account for our IGF just as you are doing now, telling us that IGF has been used to purchase vehicles for the Assembly. This transparency will encourage citizens to support the Assembly’s development agenda,” Togbe Ayim said.
Togbe Ayim Adzokoto II, however, appealed to the Assembly to ensure fairness in the distribution of development projects so that all communities within the municipality benefit from its annual and medium-term development plans.
“I would love to say that the Assembly should do well in allocating a project to every community during their medium-term development plans, because when you check back, there are some communities that always get projects every year. I know what I am saying,” he stated.
