Selfcare summit to spotlight mental health, preventive care, resilient communities

Stakeholders in Nigeria’s health and wellness sector are set to converge in Lagos in September for the third edition of the D’Bio Wellness & Selfcare Summit, with a renewed call for Nigerians to take greater ownership of their physical, mental, emotional and overall wellbeing.

The two-day summit, scheduled for September 8 and 9, 2026, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, will focus on the theme, “The Selfcare Ecosystem: Connecting the Pillars of Health.”

Organisers said the summit would bring together policymakers, healthcare professionals, researchers, corporate organisations, wellness advocates, students, innovators, civil society organisations and community leaders to examine how selfcare can become a stronger pillar of preventive healthcare and resilient health systems.

The event will explore the links between physical, mental, emotional, social, environmental, occupational, financial and spiritual wellbeing, with emphasis on practical approaches that can help individuals and communities make informed decisions about their health.

The summit will be chaired by His Royal Majesty, Igwe (Pharm.) Alexander Uzodinma Onyido, while Pharm. Olayinka Subair, FPSN, FNAPharm, is billed to deliver the keynote address.

Founder of D’Bio Wellness & Selfcare Hub and convener of the summit, Dr. Monica Hemben Eimunjeze, FPSN, FNAPharm, said the initiative was designed to move the conversation around selfcare beyond awareness to practical action.

According to her, “Selfcare is not a luxury—it is a necessity for healthier individuals, stronger families, productive workplaces, and resilient communities.”

Eimunjeze added: “Through this Summit and the awareness campaign preceding it, we are bringing together diverse voices and expertise to build a sustainable culture of Selfcare that benefits everyone.”
She urged government institutions, private organisations, healthcare professionals, students, the media and members of the public to participate in the summit.

The organisers said participants would engage in panel discussions, interactive learning sessions, exhibitions, networking and experience-sharing forums aimed at developing practical solutions for individuals, institutions and communities.

Ahead of the summit, D’Bio Wellness & Selfcare Hub has also launched “Expression Phase,” a one-month creative campaign designed to use music and artistic expression to open conversations around mental wellness.

The campaign comes against the backdrop of growing emotional pressures associated with modern life, including the demands of work, social expectations, addiction, grief and other personal struggles that may remain hidden from public view.

Under the campaign, rappers, singers, spoken-word artists, poets and other creatives are invited to contribute to the open verse of the official theme song, creating a platform for participants to express their experiences without judgment.

The organisers said the initiative was intended to encourage people to speak about emotional struggles and make mental wellness a subject of wider public conversation.

The campaign is powered by D’Bio Wellness & Selfcare Hub in partnership with Playmode Music, Trace TV, Swypatune and Paparazi Visibility Concepts.

The organisers described the initiative as more than an awareness campaign, saying it was “a call to care, a call to listen, and a call to express.”

Meanwhile, registration for the summit is open, while sponsorship, exhibition and partnership opportunities are available to organisations seeking to support health promotion, wellness and selfcare initiatives in Nigeria and beyond.
