Last year, on July 28, Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry went on their first date in Montreal. Now, exactly one year later, they have been photographed still going strong, on vacation with friends in the South of France. The couple took selfies together, enjoyed time on a boat, and kept each other protected from the sun.
Perry has been performing at European music festivals this summer. In early July, she shared a photo of Trudeau kissing her in Stuttgart, Germany. He was also spotted in the crowd of her show during the city’s Jazz Open.
He then joined her in Aix-les-Bains, France, and even danced in a video with her and her crew.
Perry has spoken about how exceptional her love story with Trudeau is. In June, she called him the love of her life during a Q&A at the Tribeca Festival premiere of her concert film, Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour. “I am very in love,” she told moderator Tomás Mier. She reflected on the Paris concert the film captured, which happened right after her first date with Trudeau.
“Actually, that show was after I met the love of my life, and so I felt very anchored by that because I’m a little bit like a rainbow kite,” she said. “I fly super high and like, you know, touch the veil, cosmos, and sometimes I need to be anchored. So, to have that anchor finally makes me feel really whole now.”
Trudeau attended the premiere with her and gushed about Perry during a red carpet interview. When asked about the film, he told Entertainment Tonight, “I saw the show three times, but I wasn’t really paying attention to anything but Katy, so I’m looking forward to seeing the show now for the first time.”
