At Jacquemus, Happiness Looks Like Summer

Estimated read time2 min read

Simon Porte Jacquemus has long made a case for fashion as the ultimate escape. And for spring/summer 2027, he found his latest destination in Corsica, where childhood vacations with his late mother to the island inspired “Le Bonheur.” Translating to “happiness” in French, the collection distilled those formative memories into an ode to the Mediterranean and vacation dressing at its essence.

As guests including Isabelle Huppert, Manon, and Alexandra Leclerc looked on, models emerged from a winding cliffside path overlooking the sea, descending from the solitary lighthouse that anchored the dramatic Corsican setting. On the sea, sailboats spelled out the brand’s moniker.

At Jacquemus, place is never just a backdrop—it’s part of the collection.

The offering was grounded in tactile, natural fabrics: cotton, linen, and sheer silk organza that splashed onto low-cut tanks and languid resort-ready dresses. High-waisted skirts, spliced just below the hips with ruching, featured the silhouette of a bikini—in bright sea blue or vibrant coral—visible from underneath.

The designer’s mood board—Fernand Léger’s 1907 “Gamins au soleil,” works by Charles Negre and Claire Guarry, and photos he captured of his mother on trips to Corsica—was traced in the relaxed, instinctive approach to dress.

Shapes were unfussy but highly sculptural—a Jacquemus signature. Vivid smocked skirts that jutted from the hips with soft pleats were balanced with simple throw-over shirts. A knit tank top decorated with scale-like ornaments came styled with sharp dress pants. Elsewhere, a Breton stripe button-down and bra combo was dressed down with mesh slipper-style shoes, which featured prominently throughout the collection.

The collection embraced the pleasures of summer—even as Europe swelters through another heat wave—without overcomplicating them.

“I imagined this collection like the summer itself,” the designer said in a statement. “The sun, the colors, the beauty of simple things, the feeling of lightness. For me, this is happiness… le bonheur.”
