Sedina Tamakloe is in prison — NDC lawyer confirms

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) legal team, Lawyer Victor Adawudu has confirmed that former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) Chief Executive Officer, Sedina Tamakloe is currently in prison, quelling doubts about her whereabouts.
Mr. Adawudu’s comments come amid allegations by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the government is shielding the former MASLOC boss from serving a 10-year prison sentence imposed by the Accra High Court following her extradition to Ghana.
He dismissed the allegations and insisted that the appropriate state institutions are carrying out the court’s directives.
“All I know is that there are appropriate authorities that are supposed to ensure that the orders of the court are being enforced. So, to my knowledge, she is in the hands of the Ghana Prisons and the security people,” he said in an interview Citi News on Wednesday, June 17.
He further indicated that individuals seeking additional information on the matter should make use of the Right to Information process rather than rely on speculation.
“I am sure that with an application through the Right to Information, they will be given [the information], rather than speculation. But I can tell you that she is in the hands of the security, as she was handed over by the US authorities,” Mr. Adawudu added.
The latest comments from Mr. Adawudu are expected to fuel ongoing public debate over the case as stakeholders continue to seek clarity on developments following her arrival in the country.
