On Friday, Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau were seen at Team USA’s World Cup qualifying match against Paraguay in Inglewood, California. The couple was seated in the arena and shown snuggling up with one another as they watched the action below. They held hands as they shared conversation and their excitement over the match.
Perry played an important role at the World Cup, singing at the tournament’s opening ceremony. She wore a striking Stella McCartney dress made of silver metallic fringe with a sculptural skirt that swung out around her as she sang her hit song “Wonder.”
To catch Perry’s performance, Trudeau had to miss Canada’s opening match, which he commented about on X. The former prime minister of Canada wrote, “Sometimes supportive boyfriend duties call. But you know who I’m rooting for to take the Cup,” adding an emoji of the Canadian flag.
And in line with “boyfriend duties,” Trudeau was by Perry’s side in New York earlier this week at the premiere of Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour during the Tribeca Festival. It was the couple’s first official appearance on the red carpet together.
Entertainment Tonight asked Trudeau on the red carpet if he had yet seen her concert film. He answered, “I saw the show three times, but I wasn’t really paying attention to anything but Katy. So I’m looking forward to seeing the show now for the first time.”
Perry also gushed about Trudeau that night.
“I am very in love,” she said, via E!. “Actually that show [her Paris concert] was after I met the love of my life, and so I felt very anchored by that because I’m a little bit like a rainbow kite. I fly super high and like, you know, touch the veil, cosmos, and sometimes I need to be anchored. So, to have that anchor finally makes me feel really whole now.”
